Rangers Garner Two CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American Accolades; Seitz to First and Kelly to Second

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.:  Regis men's soccer garnered two CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American accolades today for their performances both on the pitch and in the classroom.

Seniors Garrett Seitz and Mark Kelly earned the honors for the Rangers with Seitz earning first team honors and Kelly earning second team honors.

Seitz, a senior defender from Broomfield, Colo. maintained a 3.93 grade point average while studying Biological and Biomedical Sciences.  He has helped the Rangers to a 14-4-1 record in 2013 and their first appearance in the NCAA Elite 8.  Seitz was recently named the recipient of the 2013 Summit Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating in the finals for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship tournament.  He has anchored the back line for Regis, playing 63 games with 48 starts and this year has played in all 19 games with 17 starts.  He has helped the Rangers to three shutouts while holding opponents to only 34 goals this season.

Kelly, another senior for Regis, has held up the Ranger offensive for two years as a forward.  Originally from Antrim, Northern Ireland, he has amassed a 3.83 gpa while studying Business.  He was named All-RMAC First Team as well as All-RMAC Academic Player of the Year and All-RMAC Academic First Team.  On the pitch, Kelly has put in 14 goals and nine assists, including the game-winner in overtime of the NCAA Sweet 16 to help RU to their first ever win in a NCAA tournament.  He's had three game-winners and 35 points for the Rangers this year while posting a 46.2 shot on goal percentage on the front line.
