RU Ties ASU 2-2 on the Road after 2OT
Regis Women’s Soccer Ties Adams State on the Road; Finish 2-2 in Double OT
ALAMOSA, Colo.: Regis women's soccer went head-to-head today with the Grizzlies of Adams State University, with the Rangers finishing with a 2-2 tie after double overtime.
Junior Sade Akindele scored the first goal just 10 minutes into the match and it would take another 20 minutes for the Grizzlies to tie things up.
Early in the second half, senior Rachel McMahon put in an outstanding effort, working for another Ranger goal to edge things up 2-1 roughly seven minutes into the second half.
In the 54th minute, ASU evened things up again and neither team would be able to earn the advantage through the rest of regulation play, along with two overtime periods.
Sophomore Kat Crump and senior Ellen Augsburger held the net down for Regis,
Regis moved to 6-7-2 overall and 4-6-2 in the RMAC after this afternoon. They each put in three saves for RU, with Crump allowing two goals on the day.
The Rangers put up 10 shots on goal in 14 attempts, outshooting their opponents who put eight shots on goal in 11 attempts.
This week, Regis heads back home to take on Colorado State-Pueblo at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 27. On Sunday, October 29, the Rangers will honor their five seniors on Senior Day against New Mexico Highlands University.
