DAYTON, Ohio - The RV/ No. 23 University of Dayton men's soccer team (5-1) tied the game in the 89th minute and won the match in the 91st minute, edging Gardner-Webb (0-5) 2-1 in overtime Friday night at Baujan Field.

With GWU leading 1-0, the Flyers sent the game into overtime when senior Daniel Berko scored in the 89th minute.  Junior Abe Keller scored the golden goal just seconds into the 91st minute.  Senior Evan McCreary had assists on both Dayton goals. Berko and Keller also had assists.

The game was knotted at nil when Berko darted down the field on a breakaway. GWU keeper Scott Krotee mad a great stop one-on-one to keep the game even. The Runnin’ Bulldogs were able to counter with a well-placed ball by Chijioke Akujuobi  that Satoshi Tatsumi finished near post.

Following the goal, Dayton pressed the Runnin’ Bulldogs with its offensive attack.  Dayton had two shots and three corner kicks before the game-equalizing goal. Keller booted the ball in on the corner with just over a minute remaining in the match, the ball was headed by McCreary, and Berko was there to put the ball away and send the game into overtime.

Dayton came out strong in the first overtime, first with a shot by sophomore Greg Enstone that was stopped by Krotee. 30 seconds later Keller drove home the game-winner on a beautiful one-touch from McCreary and Berko.

The Flyers host IPFW Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. ET. Admission is free to all UD men’s soccer home games.
