Sac State Defeats Bakersfield 3-1

September 6, 2013

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Sacramento State defeated Bakersfield 3-1 in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon.

The Hornets took a 1-0 lead into halftime when Kassidy Kellogg scored in the 19th minute. Alyssa Anderson scored in the 54th and 72nd minutes for Sacramento State. Emily Noethe (Jr., Dallas, Ga., East Paulding HS) tallied the lone 'Runner goal in the 77th minute. Taylor Wheeler (So., Fullerton, Calif., La Habra HS) was the credited with the assist.

"I think we started the game quite well and after we gave up the goal, we looked like we just got the wind sucked out of our sails and didn't respond," said Bakersfield head coach Melissa Phillips. "We’ve seen a good defensive performance and we’ve also seen a good attacking performance and we have not put the two together. This whole weekend we have not played to the potential that we can play and potential is a word that will kill teams."

The Roarunners travel to Portland State next Saturday for a 1 p.m. match.
