Career games for sophomores Darci Miller and Megan Kingston helped the Jacks stay undefeated in The Summit League with a win over the Mastodons on a windy Sunday in Brookings, S.D.

Kingston, a transfer, scored two goals for the Jacks, the first coming in the 22nd minute on a cross from senior Kayla Braffet. Kingston took the ball out of the air and placed it inside the near post.

The goal was her first as a Jackrabbit.

The score was 1-0 at halftime, as SDSU controlled the ball despite being against a strong wind.

"I thought we, at times, played better against the wind [in the first half]," head coach Lang Wedemeyer said. "The wind definitely makes a difference. It is harder to clear the ball out during a pressure situation and a lot of balls are under hit. It is so windy out here so often; we have become used to it."

The Jacks outshot IPFW 13-1 in the first half, including a 4-0 shots on goal advantage. SDSU also took six corner kicks to the Mastodon's none.

It did not take long for SDSU to add to its lead.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Miller received a pass from Christa Nyblom and finished from the top-center of the box, putting the Jacks ahead 2-0.

The goal was her first of the season.

SDSU controlled the ball for the majority of the second half, as well, and continued to create scoring opportunities.

In the 89th minute, Kingston added another goal, putting an exclamation point on the already impressive performance. Miller was credited with the assist.

"Hopefully this is just the beginning of things to come [for Megan Kingston]," Wedemeyer said. "We have talked to her a lot about getting into the box and on the back post and that is how she scored her first goal. We knew she had these capabilities, which is why we moved her from midfield to forward."

"Darci Miller had a great ball on [Kingston's] second goal and Kayla Braffet had a nice pass [on the first]; those are things we have been working a lot on in practice and it is nice to see them being executed," said Wedemeyer.

The Jacks outshot IPFW 22-2 in the game, including an 8-0 shots on goal advantage. SDSU held a 10-0 corner kicks advantage, as well.

The defense put in another solid performance and have now played 589 scoreless minutes; 560 coming to start conference play. In addition, the Jacks did not surrender a shot on goal in the two games this weekend.

Next up for the Jacks is the final weekend road trip of the regular season.

SDSU visits Vermillion, S.D., on Friday, Oct. 21, for a game against South Dakota. On Sunday, the Jacks travel to Kansas City, Mo., to face UMKC. Game times are set for 4 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
