FLORENCE, SC – After a scoreless first half, junior Alhagi Toure and sophomore Ado Junuzovic combined for four second-half goals to carry Clayton State University to a 5-0 win over Francis Marion University, Saturday evening (Oct. 13) in Peach Belt Conference men’s soccer action.

Francis Marion drops to 3-8-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Lakers improve to 5-6-1 and 1-4-1.  FMU will play at USC Aiken on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

Battling through a fairly even first stanza, FMU had its best scoring opportunity in the 39th minute.  Pascal Magiera headed a Henrique Guitti corner kick to junior forward Cody Farrier in the 6-yard box, but Farrier’s shot was stopped by Laker goalkeeper Matt Sutton.

Sutton finished the night with four saves en route to his second shutout of 20102.  FMU sophomore Logan Fisher made seven stops.

Clayton State held a 21-9 advantage in shots and an 8-4 lead in corner kicks.

Toure broke the scoreless deadlock at the 47:04 mark with an 8-yard shot that followed a cross from Nikola Gazibara and a short pass from Jonny Evans.

Toure scored again, just 7:47 later, on an 18-yard blast.  Junuzovic scored in the 67th and 87th minutes sandwiched around a tally by Nomis Cisic.  Evans finished the night with three assists.

Junior forward Alex Blandin paced Francis Marion with three shots, two of which were on frame.
