Shutout Propels 'Dogs over Air Force

Picking up their fifth shutout of the year, the Fresno State women's soccer team topped Air Force 2-0 Sunday afternoon on the road.

Sophomore Lauren Lindstrom headed in her first goal of the year to open scoring for the Bulldogs. Lindstrom's goal came in the 15th minute off a corner kick by senior Molly Nizzoli, her fourth assist of the season.

Fresno State (4-3-2) held onto their 1-0 lead through the first half. With less than four minutes to play, sophomore Morgan Castain knocked in her fifth goal this season unassisted from 20 yards out.

The Bulldogs defense spent a full 90 minutes on the pitch in the shutout. Freshman Katie DeVault picked up nine saves in the win.

Air Force (4-5) out shot the 'Dogs 17-14 and were led by Bridgett Murphy. She finished with five shots, three on goal.

Fresno State returns to California for the final game of their four-game road stint. The Bulldogs face Cal Poly on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. before returning home to face No. 9 Pepperdine on Sunday, Sept. 25.
