INDIANAPOLIS --- Cal State Stanislaus senior forward Karenee Demery was named the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year to headline the 2013 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America Team.

Demery, now a four-time All-America selection, also joined 12 other student-athletes on an All- America first team that also features midfielder Sydney Bond (St. Rose) as a repeat honoree.

Warriors' senior defender Emily Relles earned All-America honorable mention.

Demery, a 5-3 native of Merced, Calif., has scored 21 goals and added 10 assists for 52 points, leading NCAA Division II in total points, while standing second in total goals scored. She currently ranks fourth among all NCAA Division II players in points per game and is fifth in goals per game.

Demery, the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Player of the Year, is a four-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association selection, and is a three-time CCAA Offensive Player of the Year honoree. A Daktronics second-team honoree in the past three seasons, Demery is also a three-time Daktronics West Region Player of the Year honoree and was also a Capital One Academic All-American a season ago.

"For the past four years, we've known Karenee as a special player with tremendous talents. She's finally getting the national recongition she deserves with this award," said Hung P. Tsai, Assistant Athletics Director for sports information. "She was definitely the best player in Division II women's soccer this year."

The Ron Lenz National Player of the Year award was named for long-time South Dakota State sports information director Ron Lenz in 2008. Lenz was instrumental in the foundation of the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America program, which honors outstanding student-athletes across eight NCAA Division II sports.

Other first-team honorees include goalkeeper Abbey Miller (Grand Valley State), defenders Kayla Kimble (Grand Valley State), Alison Fitzsimmons (American International), Briana Jones (Western Washington) and Lauren Impey (Slippery Rock); midfielders Marti Corby (Grand Valley State), Kelly Penston (North Georgia) and Paxton Sickler (Rollins) and forwards Sonia Basma (American International), Korey Kronforst (Minnesota State-Mankato) and Jenny Shaba (Grand Valley State). Seven of the 13 first-team honorees come from 2013 Final Four teams, vying for the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship this weekend in Evans, Ga.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the seventh year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America and all-region teams. A total of 66 student-athletes representing 34 different institutions filled out the three teams and the honorable mention squad.
