SOCCER CAPTURES FIRST WIN ON THE SEASON
The Alabama State soccer team captured its first win on the season, defeating Tennessee-Chattanooga 1-0 at Finley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
“The ladies played a hard fought ninety minutes today, against a great team and I’m very proud that we came out with the victory,” Head coach Jodie Smith said. “They worked hard all week and it paid off for us today.”
Junior transfer forward India Pleasant knocked in her second goal on the season off a free kick from sophomore forward Alexandria Cannon in the 62nd minute to score the only goal of the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kylee Hathaway had seven key saves on the day for the Lady Hornets. The Lady Hornets were outshot 21-6 by the Lady Mocs in the match. Both Pleasant and Cannon had a shot on goal.
The Lady Hornets (1-1) will return to action Friday, August 31 as they travel to Orangeburg, S.C. to face Francis Marion at 4 p.m. (CT).
