DETROIT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)—The Eastern Michigan University soccer team surrendered its first loss of the season Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 23, falling to the University of Detroit, 4-0. The Eagles managed just three shots on goal in the loss.

Despite an early offensive rush, the Green and White spent a good portion of the first half on the defensive as Detroit struck for a pair of goals in a 14-minute span. The second half featured a similar storyline as the Titans added two more goals along with eight total shots on target.

The Eagles fall to 0-1-1 on the young season, while the Titans improve to 1-1-0.

Detroit jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Rebekah Dornbos received a corner kick and passed it along to Lauren Roffey who slid the ball past EMU goalkeeper Rachel Rye. Sarah Dzuris made it 2-0 for the Titans in the 31st minute with a one-timer from 18 yards out off a feed from Abby McCollum.

Roffey netted both second half goals for Detroit in the 49th and 79th minute to complete the hat trick.

Rye made three saves for Eastern Michigan and senior Chelsea Detrick launched six shots with one on goal.

The Eagles now head to Indianapolis, Ind. for a 1 p.m. matchup with IUPUI Sunday, Aug. 28.
