Published: September 23, 2018

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (2-3-3, 2-1-2 NSIC) tallied a 1-1 double overtime tie against NSIC rival #16 Minnesota State Mankato (5-1-1, 3-0-1 NSIC) on Sunday, Sept. 22 at scenic Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Mavericks Julia Zach started off the scoring at 17:32 of the game in an unassisted breakaway at the net. It didn't take the Huskies long to tie things up. At 25:39 Hannah Marion put one past the MSU netminder, getting her fourth goal of the season. Marion was assisted by Sally Nelson.

A flurry of chances for both teams throughout the rest of the game kept energy levels high, SCSU's goal keeper Zoe Welsh had six big time saves in the second period to keep the goals notched at one a piece. Neither team was able to break the tie, and the game ended after double overtime 1-1.

Welsh had eight saves in the game, MSU's Alexa Rabune had three saves. Each team had four corner kicks in the game, shots were MSU 16, SCSU 8, and St. Cloud drew six fouls in the game, Minnesota state had three.
