St. Cloud State Suffers 4-1 Loss on Sept. 18
The Husky soccer team lost their second straight NSIC match-up Sunday afternoon by a score of 4-1 to the Mavericks of Minnesota State. The game was played in front of 213 spectators on a rainy day at Husky Stadium.
Minnesota State struck first with a goal by Courtney Vallarelli on an assist from Nicole Dooher at the 7:03 mark. They extended their lead to 2-0 at 15:57 of the first half with an unassisted goal by Emily Moris.
SCSU got on the board late in the half when junior midfielder Mary Morhardt was able to find the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
The Mavericks got two goals in the second half from Dooher, with assists coming from Vallarelli and Marissa Santana. The Huskies were out shot by the Mavericks 14 to 10.
SCSU falls to 1-4-0 (0-2-0 NSIC) on the season. They will be back at home this Wednesday night as they will play host to the University of Sioux Falls. Game is slated for 7 PM from Husky Stadium.
