Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team tied a program record with six goals in the second half en route to a 6-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday at LaValle Stadium. Senior Larissa Nysch and sophomore Emily Murrer each scored twice, while sophomore Stella Norman added three assists.

Coach Sue Ryan's Reaction

"I think the first half, we were still shaking our legs out from the overtime game on Friday. But once we hit our stride and broke the ice, we got into a better rhythm and really starting executing well. Our slogan is 'our family versus their team' and today, we were greater as a unit than as individual players. I played my entire bench today and I played some people in three different positions, but that's the kind of team we are. We're more of a 'we' than a 'me.'"

Goal Recaps

• After a quiet first half, the Seawolves finally broke through in the 53rd minute when Norman played a long through-ball down the middle of the field to Nysch, who deftly chipped the charging keeper for the 1-0 lead.
• Six minutes later, Norman again sparked the offense with a long free kick into the box that found the head of Murrer, who was able to redirect it inside the left post for her first collegiate goal.
• Less than four minutes later, Murrer struck again with another header in the box, this time off a cross from senior Julianne Palm (Stilwell, Kansas) on the right wing.   
• Just over three minutes later, Stony Brook struck yet again when Nysch poked home a rebound off a shot by junior Megan Rea (East Haven, Conn.).
• The Seawolves made it five goals within 21 minutes when freshman Maxie New took a centering pass from junior Shannon Grogan (Eastampton, N.J.) and tucked it under the crossbar with a nifty one-time finish at 73:25.
• Stony Brook then rounded out the scoring at 78:39 when senior Queli Ornelas (Palm Harbor, Fla.) finished off a breakaway with a touch inside the right post off a feed from New. It was Ornelas' first collegiate goal.

• Eight different Stony Brook players recorded points in the match.

• Stony Brook tied a program record for most goals in a half with six. The record was previously set in 1993 against Iona. 
• The Seawolves also tied program records for most assists in a half (7) and most points scored in a half (19). Both records were initially set in 1986 against St. John's. 
• The six goals were the most Stony Brook has scored in a game since Sept. 3, 2006, a 7-0 win over Wagner.
• Murrer (two goals) and New (goal, assist) each recorded their first collegiate points on Sunday.
• Ornelas, Murrer and New each scored their first collegiate goals Sunday.
• Stony Brook fielded 20 players for the second consecutive game. 
• Singson played the final 15:08 for her first game action with Stony Brook.
• When Singson entered the game, Castanio's streak of 2,294 consecutive minutes played came to an end.
