TDS releases men's DI Top 100 Freshmen list
There's little doubt that first-year talent made a huge impression in the men's Division I season.
National runners up Akron featured a back line that included Carlo Ritaccio, the 2018 National Freshman of the Year and No. 1 player in the Top 100 Freshmen list.
Ritaccio is one of five Zips included on the list, and that's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of key contributors on College Cup sides. National champs Maryland received a big boost by midfielder William James Herve, while Farai Mutatu and Jack Beck were a big part of Michigan State's success. Indiana defender Jack Maher stepped in to replace Grant Lillard in the Hoosier back line.
Slotting in behind Ritaccio in the top five are goalkeeper Andrew Thomas (Stanford), Issa Rayyan (Duke), Maher and Aedan Stanley (Duke).
