The top powers in the country emerged unscathed during the opening weekend of the women's Division I season.

Penn State remains on top after defeating BYU on Friday night, following that up with a 3-0 defeat of Hofstra on Sunday.

No. 2 Stanford enjoyed a productive trip to Wisconsin, scoring a combined nine goals in two wins over Marquette and Wisconsin.

Pac-12 rivals UCLA moved into the No. 5 spot, bombarding their opponents with 10 goals in wins against San Diego State at home, and a road victory over Long Beach State on Sunday night.

The Duke-North Carolina marquee matchup on Friday night saw the Tar Heels emerge as overtime winners, defeating the Blue Devils by a 2-1 score. California is now ranked at No. 6, as the Golden Bears scored twice in the final 10 minutes to win 2-1 against No. 13 Santa Clara

National runner up West Virginia also enjoyed a winning start on the road, as the No. 3 ranked team in the country defeated No. 11 Georgetown 1-0 in the nation's capital.
