More: TDS Player of the Year History | TDS Player of the Year Trends
Jasmin Aikey, Stanford(w)
While Stanford has several players who have excelled this season, Aikey has undoubtedly been the best, combining incredible production with several world-class goals, whether it was a long-range rocket with either foot, a lung-busting solo run, a perfectly placed free kick, a leaping header, or an absurd bicycle kick. That has added up to 19 goals and 10 assists for 48 points, which is good for second in the nation and has led a Stanford offense that has set multiple program records while doing the ACC double. In all, it feels fitting that a player who played every outfield position in her college career, from center back to striker, ends as a TDS Player of the Year finalist in her final salvo.
Jordynn Dudley, Florida State(w)
It took a while to get going, but once the 2023 TDS Freshman of the Year hit form, she did not slow down, at one point recording a goal or assist in 13 consecutive games. What is perhaps most impressive with Dudley is the growth she has shown in her game from the rapid forward who scored ten almost exclusively in transition as a freshman, to a junior who has often been used as an attacking midfielder, thriving in tight spaces and providing 13 assists. Behind Dudley, the Seminoles are close to a second College Cup in three years, and the eye test says this might be the best player in the country.
Izzy Engle, Notre Dame(w)
Engle was near-inevitable this year, scoring in 14 appearances to reach 19 goals on the year. In an example of her remarkable consistency, consider that the Minnesota native also managed 19 last season, setting several records while winning the TDS Freshman of the Year award. Whatever type of goal the Irish needed, the sophomore provided, flashing her one-percentile combination of elite athleticism, technique, and sixth sense for goal. Those performances from the ACC Offensive Player of the Year helped the Irish go on a two-month stretch as the No. 1-ranked team in the country and come within striking distance of the ACC double.
Samantha Erbach, Xavier(w)
It is hard to argue that Erbach was not the breakout star of the 2025 season, going from a Big East Freshman of the Year nod to an attacking supernova whose 18 goals and 16 assists created 52 points, which is the most in the country. Her historic season was crucial for an Xavier team that enjoyed a remarkable record-setting campaign, including a 5-2 win over eventual Elite Eight Michigan State, five games in which it scored six or more goals, and a 2-0 Big East tournament final victory over Sweet Sixteen Georgetown. For a sophomore season that will go down in history, the Big East Midfielder of the Year was a surefire finalist for the TDS Player of the Year trophy.
Hope Leyba, Colorado(w)
2025 will go down as the year Leyba went from a little-known hard-working talent at Colorado to a bona fide college soccer star and goal-scoring machine. After scoring ten through her first 43 games, few would have expected the Arizona native to explode for a nation-leading 22 goals in 24 appearances, yet that is exactly what she did, thanks to her exceptional finishing instincts, bruising physicality, relentless work rate, and versatility in striking range. That output secured a unanimous Big 12 Forward of the Year award, set the Colorado single-season record, and led the Buffaloes to the Sweet Sixteen for just the third time in program history.
