Texas A&M star Lopez joins Spanish club
January 27, 2021
After wrapping up her stellar four-year career with Texas A&M, Mexican youth international Jimena Lopez will turn pro in Spain.
Lopez had her NWSL rights picked up in the NWSL Draft earlier this month, though coming off the board much later with many teams expecting her to head abroad.
She joins SD Eibar in the Primera División, signing through the 2021-22 season.
One of the top players in the SEC over her four years in College Station, Lopez scored 18 goals and added 23 assists in 71 matches. A veteran of Mexico's youth setup, she's likely to be a key player for the full team going forward.
