The biggest upset of the men’s Division I season came in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Providence, an at-large berth from the Big East, defeated Maryland, the Big Ten regular season and tournament champion. The Terrapins, the former No. 1 team in the TDS Top 25, was undefeated on the season prior to Sunday’s loss. Maryland also held a 4-1 lead in the second half before giving up four goals in the final 21 minutes of the game. Providence captured the 5-4 win over the top seed on the road. It was an incredible performance from the Friars, who check in at No. 14 in the TDS Top 25 this week. Maryland drops to No. 15 in the rankings.

Wake Forest takes over the top spot in the TDS Top 25. The Demon Deacons defeated Coastal Carolina 2-0 in the Second Round game on Sunday. Wake Forest moves on to face the darling of the postseason SIUE, which is in the Third Round after a pair of wins in penalty kicks in the previous two rounds.

Stanford jumps up to No. 2 in the rankings. The Cardinal defeated Pacific 2-0 in the game in Palo Alto on Sunday. Stanford host Virginia in the next round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cavaliers barely survived a scare from Vermont in the previous round.

Denver rounds out the top three. The Pioneers defeated UNLV 3-0 in the Second Round. The next round should be a big challenge for the Pioneers with No. 7 Washington heading to town for the Third Round battle.
