Trine Drop First Game of the Season
CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - The first loss of the season for the Trine University women’s soccer team proved to be a tough pill to swallow as they fell 6-0 to non-conference opponent Thomas More College. The Thunder are not 1-1-1 on the year.
The Saints jumped out to an early lead as they scored three goals in the first 12 minutes of the game. Thomas More added another goal in the 39th and 42nd minutes to lead 5-0 at the half.
One more goal would be tacked on for the Saints in the 75th minute as the Thunder were unable to find the net in the second half.
Freshman Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) made four stops in just under 79 minutes of work between the pipes. Junior Hannah Hewes (Fremont, Ind./Fremont) came on the play the final 10 minutes in net but did face a single shot.
Freshman Skyler Reed (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Carroll) had Trine’s only shot on goal while attempting two shots.
Thomas More out-shot Trine, 18-6, including 10-1 on-goal.
Trine will go right back to work facing Hanover on September 9 at 1:00 p.m.
