Trine Falls to SMC
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - It was a tough, cold trip west on I-90 for the Trine University women’s soccer team as they fell to Saint Mary’s College 4-0. The Thunder fall to 1-8-2 on the year and 0-6-1 in the MIAA.
The Belles got on the board midway through the opening half, scoring on a header off a corner kick in the 24th minute. Six minutes later Saint Mary’s would tack on another goal that bounced off Trine’s goalkeeper.
Saint Mary’s added goals in the 74th and 87th minutes as the Thunder were unable to rally a comeback.
Trine Freshman goalie Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) faced 16 shots on the afternoon while making four saves.
Sophomores Miranda Allen (Grass Lake, Mich./Grass Lake) and Amy Williams (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Northrop) along with freshman Kassi Ellsworth (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) each recorded a shot on goal for the Thunder.
Trine will return home to host Olivet for homecoming under the lights of the Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium at 6:00 p.m. on October 6.
