Trine Women's Soccer Drops Season Finale
ANGOLA, Ind. - In their final game of the season, the Trine University women’s soccer team nearly pulled off the upset against defending conference champion Alma College, but fell 1-0. The Thunder end their season with an overall record of 1-16-3 and 0-14-2 in the MIAA.
The Thunder defense held strong in the first half as Alma sent a barrage of shots at the net, as the Scots out-shot Trine 14-0. The strong Thunder defense held the game scoreless at halftime.
The second half would be a different story, as Alma scored just 1 minute 57 seconds into the period after the initial shot hit the post.
Trine would look to score the equalizer as they had several opportunities late in the game, but were unable to send the game into overtime.
Freshman goalie Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) finished the cold afternoon with seven saves, six of which came in the first half.
Freshman Jordyn Rogers (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Snider) led the Trine offense with two shots, both of which were the Thunder’s only shots on goal.
