Trine Women's Soccer Wins First MIAA Game
ANGOLA, Ind. - It took just one shot off the foot of Trine University women’s soccer freshman Summer Pattison (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central) to give the Thunder their first conference win of the season 1-0 over Albion College. The Thunder (2-6, 1-5 MIAA), didn’t have a shot on goal until Pattison notched her first career goal with 27:10 left in the second half.
Pattison made a fantastic move around both the Albion defender and goalie after fellow freshman Shelby Kindl (South Bend, Ind./Riley) gave her a long pass down the middle of the field as Pattison finished it off with a flick of her foot.
The Trine defense held the Britons to just three shot attempts in the second half after they had taken eight in the opening 45 minutes. Senior goalie Jamie Schnarr (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont) got her first win of the season making five saves in net for the Thunder.
The win was the first for the Thunder over the Britons since another 1-0 victory back on Sept. 20, 2011 after the previous three matches ended in ties.
The Thunder will next take on Alma when they come to Angola on Oct. 2 for a 4 p.m. game.
