Tulsa Drops 1-0 Match to UNLV
The Tulsa men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 match to UNLV on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU fell to 1-1-1 on the season, while UNLV moved to 3-0 overall.
“I thought we started the game really well and created two clear-cut chances, but UNLV started to create some rhythm and good chances too,” Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. “For the most part I thought we defended well, we just couldn’t find the back of the net. Credit to our guys, our effort was tremendous, but we are disappointed with the loss.”
Marco Gonzalez scored the Rebels goal at the 59:25 mark off a combination from Bay Kurtz and Tyler Allen for his fourth goal this season.
UNLV had a 15-13 lead in shots, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal, and a 4-2 lead in corner kicks.
Juan Sanchez had four of TU’s shots, while Thomas Wells added two and seven others had one attempt. Cooper Clark logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up five saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, September 2 against North Florida. Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
