UD WOMEN'S SOCCER FIGHTS XAVIER TO 1-1 DRAW

CINCINNATI - University of Dayton women's soccer kicked off the 2014 season by playing rival Xavier to a 1-1 draw in an exhibition contest on Thursday night. The match consisted of three 30-minute periods and served as a warm-up for UD's regular season opener.

Xavier took the early lead when sophomore forward Tori Doss broke away with the opening kick and scored an unassisted goal in the opening minute of the contest, 1-0.

Dayton freshman Kaitlynn Kiehl got behind the defense and scored to an open goal in the second period to tie the game, 1-1.

After the game both teams cooled down by participating in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge together on the field.

Dayton, picked to win the Atlantic 10 in a preseason vote, will open the 2014 regular season at No. 9 Texas A&M on Friday, Aug. 22 and at Rice on Sunday, Aug. 24.
