#UDWSOC SHUTS OUT GW 3-0 ON THE ROAD

October 31, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. -  In a crucial Atlantic 10 Conference match, Dayton women's soccer dominated in a 3-0 road win over George Washington Friday afternoon.

The Flyers improve to 9-8-1 overall and 5-2 in the A-10, holding on to third place in the conference standings. The Colonials drop to 10-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the A-10.

Junior Ashley Campbell scored two goals for UD, including the game-winning goal in this match. She has a team-high 12 goals this season and 42 in her career, currently fourth all-time at UD. She is closing in on All-American Missy Gregg (1999-2000) in third place with 45 career goals. Fellow junior Nicole Waters had two assists in the match, bringing her season total up to 15, which leads the A-10 and is just two off her UD single-season record of 17 she set in 2013. Waters has 34 career assists, which is third all-time and nine away from second-place Juliana Libertin's 43 career assists.

Campbell scored her first goal in the 21st minute, collecting a rebound off Kelsey Smigel's shot, settling it and finishing it to put UD up 1-0. She struck again in the 35th minute after a perfectly placed ball by Waters.

Sophomore defender Kathleen Golterman scored her first career collegiate goal as a Flyer in the 87th minute when Waters found her far post with a pass across the goal mouth. Golterman finished with a low strike under the diving keeper to put UD up 3-0.

Redshirt junior Heather Betancourt preserved the shutout for Dayton with four saves. She improves to 3-0-0 this season, and has only allowed one goal in those three matches.
