U.S. U20 MNT end week on high note
CARSON, California – The U.S. U20 Men’s National Team capped a successful week on Friday with a scoreless draw against Australia at the 2014 U.S. Soccer NTC Invitational. Both the U.S. and Australia finished the event undefeated with two wins and a draw. The U.S. claimed the championship thanks to a greater goal differential.
Outside of the results, there were plenty of positives for the U20 MNT coaching staff to take away from the week. Head coach Tab Ramos and his staff brought in new players like Tommy Thompson and Fernando Arce who did well in their first camp with the team.
“We used our full roster [at the NTC Invitational],” Ramos said about the fitness of his squad and depth. “Everyone started at least one game. I think the guys today were fresh enough to play. In the second half of the last game, we looked the best that we have looked this whole tournament.”
Leaving the camp on a high note will leave any coach pleased especially against an opponent like Australia, which is a favorite to qualify for the U20 World Cup in 2015.
