Utah Valley women fall to Texas State
August 28, 2010
EL PASO, Texas -- Utah Valley University came up on the short end of a 1-0 match vs. Texas State to open the 13th Annual Miners' Classic on Friday afternoon. The Wolverines (1-2-0) will next face host UTEP on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. MT.
"We were much better than we were last week at Utah State," said head coach Brent Anderson. "I thought we did a pretty good job of limiting their dangerous attack. A lot the shots they had weren't great looks. Offensively, we didn't create a lot of attack but we were fairly accurate, there just wasn't enough of it."
The game was scoreless until the 70th minute when Britney Curry scored for the Bobcats for the lone goal of the contest.
Statistically Texas State had a large edge in overall shots, 24-7, but on goal was a much more even number, 7-4 in favor of the Bobcats.
Hailey Brown had three saves in goal for UVU in 45 minutes played in the first half. Lauren Sack had three second-half saves while four different Wolverines each had a shot on goal.
Texas State keeper Lauren Frazier gets credit for the shutout, recording four saves while logging all 90 minutes in goal.
