Very Short-Handed FDU Falls at Hofstra, 3-0
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Hofstra Tuesday night at HU Soccer Field in nonconference action. With the victory, the Pride improve to 8-4-2 on the season, while the Knights fall to 7-6-1 overall.
Hofstra scored its first goal in the 14th minute, as Maid Memic scored on a header after a cross from the right side for a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Aleksandar Djekic, who was making his first start of the season between the pipes (and second career start), kept the damage at a minimum the rest of the half to keep the score at 1-0 after 45 minutes of action.
After halftime the Pride's Chris Griebsch score a pair of goals (49' and 73') to give Hofstra the 3-0 victory.
FDU was outshot, 16-9, but had four shots on goal, with senior Kean Lewis leading the way with two. Djekic stopped five shots in goal after playing the full 90 minutes for the first time in his career.
The Knights will return to action Sunday, Oct. 27 when they host LIU Brooklyn at University Stadium for a 3 p.m. Northeast Conference contest.
