CLEVELAND, OH - Francis Marion University senior midfielder Kelly Kady scored in the third  minute of Saturday’s match against Cleveland State University, but the Patriots could not overcome four unanswered goals by the Vikings as FMU fell 4-1 in women’s soccer action.

The Patriots drop to 5-7-1, and are more than excited to head back to Florence where they hold a perfect 4-0 record at the new Hartzler Field in the Griffin Athletic Complex. FMU will play host to Montreat College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Kady’s score, her fourth of 2012, came just 2:03 after the opening kickoff with sophomore forward Dominique Evans earning her fifth assist of the season on the play.

The Vikings outshot FMU 11-7 with both teams taking three corner kicks. Patriot freshman goalkeeper Taylor O’Berry had four saves on the day, while CSU’s Sarah Wood registered two stops.

FMU junior Yasmin Bunter recorded two shots, one of which came early in the second half and forced a saved by Wood. Patriot defender Sandy Odembo also took two shots.

Cleveland State (5-8-0) answered Kady’s score with three tallies prior to halftime, including a goal and assist by Jaime Avona, who posted her fifth goal of the season off a corner kick.

Saturday’s match was played on CSU’s Kenzler Field, which on Friday hosted President Obama in a campaign stop.
