Wagner Falls To Stony Brook

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's soccer team suffered a defeat to the visiting Stony Brook Seawolves on Sunday afternoon at Hameline Field, as the Seahawks lost by a score of 6-0.
With the loss, the Green and White falls to 3-3-2 on the year, while the Seawolves improve to 3-6 for the season.
The first opportunity of the game for the Seahawks came 27 minutes into the contest, when sophomore Autumn Clark (Fort Lauderdale, FL / Pine Crest Prep) took a shot from long range, but her attempt was saved. The visitors took the lead in the 36th minute on a Kimmy Chavkin shot into the top right corner after a Sydney Vaughn feed.
The Seawolves had a chance to double their lead just three minutes later, but junior Peyton Beck (St. Louis, MO / Webster Groves) alertly blocked the dangerous cross for a corner kick to prevent further damage. With three minutes to play in the opening period, freshman Mya Donnelly (Manalapan,NJ / Manalapan) had the best chance of the half for the Green and White, but could not convert from 15 yards out.
In goal, junior Katie Viscardi (Hazlet, NJ / Mater Dei Prep) made two saves in 45 minutes of action, but suffered her second loss of the season to move to 1-2.
In the second half, the Seahawks started out on defense, as sophomore Delaney Beck (Bakersfield, CA / Garces Memorial) was able to save a Stony Brook penalty kick, while freshmen Le'la Allen (Piscataway, NJ / Piscataway) and Madison Starr (New Canaan, CT / New Canaan) as well as junior Kristen Bischoff (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) had shots for the Green and White, but were unable to hit the target.
The visitors tacked on five goals in the latter period, as Alyssa Francese contributed a hat trick while Rachel Florenz added two goals.
Wagner will be back in action next Thursday, September 21, as they take on Hartford in a 7:00 pm kickoff at Hameline Field.
