Staten Island, NY – The second weekend of Northeast Conference (NEC) action has the Wagner College women's soccer team returning home to Hameline Field to host a pair of matches, beginning on Friday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m as the Seahawks welcome Bryant, before hosting Central Connecticut on Sunday, September 30 in a 2:00 p.m. start.
 
 
Last Time Out: @ Robert Morris (September 21, 2018 | Lost, 2-1)

 

• The Wagner College women's soccer team opened up Northeast Conference (NEC) action with a quick goal less than one minute into the contest but a pair of late first-half scores from Robert Morris proved to be the difference as the Seahawks dropped the conference opener, 2-1, to the Colonials last Friday.
• Forty-six seconds into the contest, Wagner fired the opening salvo in the match as junior captain Maria Nunez received the cross from freshman Luisa Barone and blasted a shot that found the back-of-the-net to put the visitors ahead, 1-0.
• For Nunez, it marked her second goal of the season and fifth of her Seahawk career while Barone notched her first collegiate helper.
• Robert Morris answered back with the tying score in the seventh minute as Kristina Kelley was able to put one past senior goalkeeper, Katie Viscardi, to the far post after Bailey Farabaugh was able to find Kelly at the edge of the box.
• Wagner had a chance in the 26' as sophomore Mya Donnelly was able to create space but her shot attempt sailed high over the goal. The Colonials broke the 1-1 stalemate in the 30' as Jane Schleicher, the leading NEC-goal scorer, netted her circuit leading ninth goal of the season after firing a shot to the far left post from inside the 18.
• RMU nearly took a two-goal advantage as the home team was awarded a penalty shot in the 35'. Schleicher stepped up and booted the ball to the left but Viscardi correctly guessed on her attempt and was able to keep the deficit at one.
• The Colonials held Wagner to just one shot in the second half, as sophomore midfielder, Julia Fitzsimmons, attempt was blocked by a RMU defender.
• Viscardi recorded a match-high ten saves, one shy of her career-high 11, set back against the very same Colonial squad back on October 16, 2015. Her counterpart, Sydney Bruckner, didn't record a save in today's match.

Wagner – Bryant Series History:

• Friday's contest between the Seahawks and the Bulldogs is the 11th all-time meeting between the two schools with Bryant leading the head-to-head series, 6-2-2.
• Wagner is just 1-3-1 in its last five meetings against Bryant.  
• The Green & White's last win over Bryant came on October 25 in Smithfield, RI as the Seahawks earned a 4-3 double overtime triumph. 

Wagner vs. Northeast Conference

• Friday's contest with Bryant marks the 166 all-time Northeast Conference (NEC) match the Seahawks will play. 
• The most conference victories the Green & White has had is five, set back in 2014 when Wagner finished second in the league with a 5-1-2 conference mark and a 9-7-3 overall record en route to earning the No. 2 seed in the NEC Tournament that season.  

 
About The Bryant University Bulldogs:

• Bryant enters tonight's contest winners of back-to-back matches, most recently earning a 2-1 road victory at Sacred Heart. The Bulldogs are among the league leaders in goals scored per game, averaging 1.22 a contest, which is good for second in the circuit.
• Bryant has also allowed the second-fewest goals this season (13).
• Cayla D'Amico leads the Bulldogs with three goals while Lexi Kraemer, Corinne Rey, this week's NEC Rookie of the Week, and Amanda Spitaleri each have two goals apiece.
• D'Amico and Arin Smalls are tied for the team lead with two assists while D'Amico leads all players with eight points.
• In goal, Meghan Dalton has played in all nine contests, recording 37 saves, which is tied with Wagner's Katie Viscardi for seventh in the league.
• Dalton has posted two cleansheets, which is good for third in the NEC.    

 

• Against Robert Morris in the NEC-opener back on September 21, senior goalkeeper Katie Viscardi stopped a season-high nine shots.
• One of her nine stops came off a penalty kick off the foot of the conference's leading goal scorer, Jane Schleicher, in which Robert Morris nearly took a two-goal advantage. Schleicher stepped up and booted the ball to the left but Viscardi correctly guessed on her attempt and was able to keep the deficit at one.
• For her career, Viscardi has recorded 161 career saves and needs just 22 stops to move into sole possession of third place on the all-time career saves list, which is currently occupied by former Seahawk netminder, Katie Marcy.

• The Seahawks close out the two-match homestand on Sunday afternoon, September 30, as Wagner welcomes Central Connecticut to Staten Island.
