In their last road game of the regular season, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team topped Marian University 1-0 to improve to 9-4-3 this season. The Sabres drop to 5-7-1 with the loss.
UW-W is now 15-1-1 all-time against Marian, with nine straight wins.
The Warhawks outshot the Sabres 4-2 in the first half, but the score remained 0-0 at halftime.
UW-W turned up the heat in the second half; Dylan Hottsmith (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) fired off five shots and Tayor Ortiz added one more in the first 20 minutes.
The Warhawks finally broke through when Jake Santellano (North Brook, Ill./Glenbrook North) headed one past the keeper in the 66th minute to give UW-W a 1-0 lead.

UW-W returns home Sunday for their first game of a four-game home stand to conclude the season. The Warhawks will battle UW-Platteville for the Shaymus Guinn Cup at 1 p.m. at Fiskum Field. The cup was created in 2013 to honor head coach Tony Guinn's son, Shaymus, who passed away in December 2012 at the age of 11 after a five-year battle against E-Wing Sarcoma and chemo-induced acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
