The Mount Union women's soccer team opens up its 2012 slate on the road against two non-conference opponents this weekend (Sept. 1-2).

On Saturday (Sept. 1), the Purple Raiders travel to Granville, Ohio, to face Denison University in the 2012 season opener.

Mount Union has never beaten Denison in women's soccer but the two schools have not met since 2008.  Saturday's contest will be the first match of the season for both schools.  The Purple Raiders finished with eight wins a year ago, the program's best season since 2003.  Denison finished 8-7-3 in 2011 - the program's 15th consecutive winning season - but failed to qualify for the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.  The Big Red was picked third in the 2012 NCAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Saturday's match between the Raiders and Big Red is set to begin at 1 p.m.  Denison will provide both live stats and live video of the match.

The Raiders will take the field just 30 miles north of Granville on Sunday (Sept. 2) against Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.

Kenyon defeated Mount Union last season in Gambier en route to an 11-win season.  The Ladies picked up the fourth seed in last year's NCAC Tournament but were shut out 1-0 by top-seeded Ohio Wesleyan, the eventual tournament champion, in the semifinals.  Kenyon opens its season on Saturday at home against Hanover.

Kenyon will provide live stats and live audio of Sunday's 1 p.m. match between the Raiders and Ladies.
