William and Mary at N.C. State (Exhibition)

<p><strong>RALEIGH, N.C.</strong> &ndash; The William and Mary women&rsquo;s soccer team and N.C. State played to a, 1-1 draw Saturday evening in the College&rsquo;s lone exhibition match before opening the 2012 season Friday, Aug. 17, against Duke University.</p> <p>&nbsp;<strong><em>Statement from Head Coach John Daly:</em></strong><em> We got off to a slow start but rebounded nicely in the second period as we gave ourselves plenty of chances. However, we still didn&rsquo;t connect and execute to our maximum capability. In the third, we really controlled the flow as Cortlyn (Bristol) connected on a goal from close range. Overall, we had numerous chances and played better in the final half, which was a posistive. </em></p> <p><em>&nbsp;</em>N.C. State got on the scoreboard first with a penalty kick goal in the first 30-minute half.&nbsp; However, the Tribe outshot the Wolfpack, 5-3, in the stanza.</p> <p>&nbsp;After the second 30-minute session garnered no goals, the Tribe tied the affair in the third and final 30-minute half.&nbsp; With 3:44 left in the exhibition, senior forward Cortlyn Bristol netted the equalizer just yards away from the goal.</p> <p>For the evening, W&amp;M outshot N.C. State, 13-5, and owned a 5-2 shots on goal advantage over the Pack. Bristol finished the contest with a goal, two shots on goal and a total of four shots.&nbsp; Freshman forward Katie Johnston and classmate Barbra Platenberg each recorded a shot on goal, while senior forward Erin Liberatore notched two shots, including a shot on frame.</p> <p>W&amp;M will open the 2012 campaign Friday, Aug. 17, as it welcomes nationally ranked Duke, to Martin-Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.&nbsp; Kickoff in Williamsburg is slated for 7 p.m.</p>
