Wilson Hat Trick Leads JMU to Win at GaState

DECATUR, Ga., Oct. 14, 2012 -- Junior Lauren Wilson (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown) tallied her second career hat trick to lead James Madison (6-10-0, 4-4-0) to a 3-0 win at Georgia State (1-11-1, 1-6-0) in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer Sunday afternoon.

Wilson recorded the 23rd hat trick in JMU soccer history and the first for the Dukes since Wilson netted three goals in a 4-0 home win over Delaware on Oct. 17, 2010.

She scored in the 11th, 56th and 60th minutes.

Wilson's first goal was set up by a pass from sophomore Shannon Rano (Branchburg, N.J./Immaculata).  She scored from close range just 10:18 into the match.

The second score came 10:57 into the second half, when Wilson controlled a pass from sophomore Katie Hyland (Islip, N.Y./Islip) in front of the goal and knocked the ball into the net.

Just 4:02 later, Wilson scored her third goal off a pass from senior Katie Menzie (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly).

Dukes sophomore goalkeeper Marlee Stynchula (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson), made two saves to post her third shutout in the last four games.

Wilson upped her career goals total to 24 and her career points total to 57.  She moved from 13th to 12th on JMU's career goals list and from 18th to 17th on the career points list.

Of Note
* The Georgia State game was the last of three straight road matches for the Dukes, who play their final two regular-season games at home.
* Lauren Wilson, who has a team-leading eight goals, has scored five of those in JMU's last four games.  Three of those five goals were game-winners.
* JMU has 12 points in CAA play (three points for a win, one point for a tie) and is tied with UNC Wilmington for sixth place in the league standings.  The top six teams qualify for the postseason CAA Tournament.
