Winston Boldt Named Preseason All-American
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army men’s soccer senior goalkeeper Winston Boldt was recently named a Preseason All-American by a pair of college soccer organizations. Boldt was recognized on the Preseason All-America second team by College Soccer News on Thursday before being selected as one of four goalkeepers on Soccer America’s All-America second team on Friday.

Boldt was an All-American and Academic All-American in 2013, becoming the first Army men’s soccer player to earn both distinctions in the same season. He returns for his senior campaign after posting an Academy-record 12 shutouts last year, including six straight to begin the season. Boldt’s 12 clean sheets ranked tied for second in the nation in 2013, while he was third nationally in save percentage (.888) and fifth in goals against average (.521).
The St. Louis, Mo., native was also honored as Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for his accomplishments on and off the field.
Army kicks off its 2014 season Friday evening, when the Black Knights welcome Fairfield to Clinton Field at 7 p.m.
