Women's Division I Top 25: Oct. 20
While the No. 1 team remained, there was a host of changes after a number of ranked teams lost over the weekend in the TopDrawerSoccer.com women’s Top 25.
UCLA remained at the summit for the tenth week in a row, as the Bruins won their past two Pac-12 games by a combined score of 9-0. Florida State, Virginia, Stanford and North Carolina all managed to avoid the upset bug, with the Tar Heels climbing to No. 5 in the rankings after another ACC win, this time against in state rivals Duke.
Plenty of ranked teams did lose over the weekend, as No. 9 Florida dropped back-to-back SEC decisions, losing 3-2 against No. 25 South Carolina and suffering a 2-0 set back at the hands of Kentucky. Also losing was No. 11 Pepperdine, 2-1 against San Diego, No. 13 Kansas, and No. 14 Virginia Tech, which lost to ACC foes Wake Forest.
It wasn’t all bad news for the top teams, of course. West Virginia seized control of the Big 12 with a road win against Kansas, No. 6 Texas A&M took advantage of the Gators’ defeats and Penn State vaulted back into the Top 10 with road wins against Michigan and Michigan State.
