Recognizing individuals in an 11-player game is always a bit of a stretch; the fortunes of both team and player can vary and change off the smallest margins as a season progresses.

Regardless, honoring the Player of the Year is an annual tradition in the college game, and with almost a month of the women’s Division I season, there’s plenty to discuss.

A seemingly-major injury may have knocked Tierna Davidson, the current top-ranked player in the Top 100, out for the season. That’s pure speculation at this point, though it certainly may have knocked a favored Player of the Year candidate from the mantle.
