AUSTIN, Colo.:  Regis University women’s soccer showed up big in Austin, Texas at a tournament hosted by St. Edwards College.  The Rangers defeated Incarnate Word 2-1 in their first match, scoring the second goal with 35 seconds remaining on the clock.

Neither team scored in the first half, both putting up six shot attempts before the half was over.  The Rangers scored were to score first in the 53rd minute.  Junior Meghan Stuart scored on a rebound from a save, the assist going to sophomore Rebecca Brunson.

Incarnate Word was not going to make it easy for the Rangers however as they put a goal in between the posts in the 84th minute of the match.

The Rangers were not willing to go into extra minutes, however.  With 35 second left on the clock and a loose ball ten yards in front of the goal, senior Marissa Davis sent the ball through to the back of the net.

Davis, who’s four goals for the season, is the Rangers leading scorer.  She had two shots on goal out of three shot attempts for Regis.

Junior Rachel McMahon also put both of her two shots on goal throughout the match.

Freshman Brianna Randall spent the full 90:00 in between the posts.  She had three saves in the match and holds a .700 save percentage.  Randall recorded her first win as well against Word.

The Rangers will play again Sunday, September 9 at 12:30 PM against St. Edward’s University.
