Women's soccer loses at Carnegie Mellon in rain shortened game
PITTSBURGH, PA -- The RIT women's soccer team was defeated by Carnegie Mellon 2-1 in a rain shortened game at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday. The game was called with 3:18 to play in regulation. The loss drops the Tigers to 1-2-0 on the season.
Rachael Bromson (Suffield, CT/Suffield) scored for the Tigers, who were outshot by Carnegie Mellon 13-9. Alyssa Henkel (Newark, NY/Newark) took the loss, making four saves.
Carnegie Mellon took a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute on a goal by Elsa Wu off an assist from Amanda So.
Bromson tied the score in the 65th minute when her shot from inside the 18-yard box wen through Anna Albi's hands and into the net. For Bromson, it was her second goal of the season.
Cecilia Zischkau scored the go-ahead goal in the 79th minute off an assist from Savina Reid.
Late in regulation the skies opened up and the game was called when lightening struck nearby.
RIT will face Allegheny College tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
