Women's Soccer Posts 3-0 Shutout of Waynesburg in Clark's Debut
WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- A pair of goals by junior Kylee Kolesar (Mentor/Mentor) and terrific play in goal by freshman Jackie Podolsky(Canfield/Canfield) were enough for the Mount Union women's soccer team to earn a 3-0 win in the debut of new head coach Kelley Clark.
Podolsky had six saves to post a shutout in her collegiate debut.
On a night of many firsts, it seems that some things will stay the same as Kolesar, the team's second-leading scorer a season ago, found the back of the net on a pass from freshman Allison Fouss (Lowell/Marietta) in the 13th minute for a 1-0 lead. She added another goal in the 86th minute to put the game out of reach.
Junior Ashley Kuhn (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) scored a goal in the 40th minute and assisted on Kolesar's second score to tally three points on the night.
The Purple Raiders (1-0) will be in action again this weekend hosting Spalding (Ky.) at 1 p.m. on Saturday and then Hilbert (N.Y.) Sunday at 2 pm at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
