Women’s Soccer Shuts out Cougars 3-0

LAKEWOOD, Colo.:  Regis women's soccer advanced their record to 9-4-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the RMAC after their second victory of the weekend.  The Rangers shut out the Cougars, netting three goals.  Freshman Sidny Otto put two through Colorado Christian's goalkeeper to edge the Rangers to victory.

Otto chipped her first to the back of the net in the 14th minute off a cross in from senior Marissa Davis

Her second came in the 32nd minute of play off the assist from freshman Kate Pellegrino.  Pellegrino beat a defender down the line and passed to Otto inside the box, Otto turned and scored through the right corner of the goal.

"We have to focus on mentally preparing ourselves for next week," commented Otto after the match.  "We've gotten tired with all the games we've played so we need to be smart this week, while still preparing ourselves for the weekend."

The day puts Otto on top of the Ranger offense with eight total goals on the season.

Fellow Freshman Sade Akindele tied for second on the team with her, seventh goal of the season.  Pellegrino offered another assist in to Akindele who scored to put the Rangers up 3-0 with four minutes left on the clock.

Regis held Christian to three shots on the day, while putting on six of their seven shot attempts.

Freshman Brianna Randall was challenged twice; she made two saves throughout her 90 minutes.

"I was pleased that we were able to meet our stead goal of a shutout with two or more goals today," commented head coach JB Belzer.  "With two away matches this past weekend, you have to take in points while you're on the road, and we did that well."

Regis will host Fort Lewis on Friday, October 19th for their next RMAC match.  It will take place at 3:30 PM.
