Women’s Soccer Suffers 1-0 Setback Against Castleton State
The women's soccer team suffered a heart breaking 1-0 loss to Castleton State as senior Courtney Chadburn (North Clarendon, Vt.)lofted in a shot from 10 yards out with just nine seconds left on the clock.
Johnson & Wales controlled the action early in the contest and held a commanding 7-2 advantage in shots for the first half. The Wildcats couldn't convert, however as the two teams headed into halftime knotted in a scoreless tie.
In the second half, it was a back-and-forth battle with both sides having solid scoring chances. Neither could connect, however until Chadburn's tally in the 89th minute gave Castleton State the 1-0 victory.
Sophomore Kara Collins (Arlington, N.J.) made two saves in the loss for Johnson & Wales while junior Ericka Davis (Cambridge, Vt.) had seven stops for Castleton State in the victory.
With the loss Johnson & Wales is now 0-2 while Castleton State is 3-0 for the year. The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, September 6th when they travel to Coast Guard for a non-conference contest at 7:00 p.m.
