The women’s college soccer player of the week is Elin Hansson, a senior forward who led Xavier on a rampant two-game run.

The week began with the Swedish striker scoring twice in an 8-0 defeat of Murray State. She then stepped it up a level against Michigan State, as it was her first-half hat trick that paced a shocking 5-2 defeat of tbe previously nationally ranked Spartans.

Women’s Team of the Week: August 25-31

GK Emma Knack, Grand Canyon - Knack was unbeatable this week, making 17 total saves between clean sheet victories over Portland State and Oregon.

D Olivia Page, Kansas - The highly athletic junior center back was on fire, playing all 180 minutes in a 1-1 draw with No. 2 Florida State and a 3-1 defeat of Drake.

D Peyton Leonard, Pepperdine - A well-taken headed goal capped off a stellar performance to help defeat Columbia 3-0.

D Kaya Durkee, Illinois State - Durkee did it all on the week, starting with two assists to help defeat Western Illinois 5-0, and followed by playing all 90 minutes in another clean sheet victory at UT Martin.

M Leah Chancey, Rice - In duplicate match-winning performances versus Oklahoma State and Louisiana, the Texas native recorded one goal and an assist in each game.

M Avery Ott, Northern Arizona - The senior midfielder followed a hat trick versus Hawaii by playing 88 minutes in a 1-1 draw with South Dakota State.

M Renee Lyles, Clemson - Still finding form after missing last season with injury, Lyles had her best week yet as she played all 90 in a 0-0 draw with No. 14 South Carolina, then scored twice to defeat Appalachian State 3-0.

M Delaney Matriano, Notre Dame - Matriano was a creative force for the Irish this week, as she assisted all three goals in a dominant clean sheet defeat of Michigan, then added a brace to help a lopsided victory over Oakland.

F Elin Hansson, Xavier - The Swedish forward scored five as Xavier ran riot on the week.

F Jahkaya Davis, Binghamton - Continuing her elite sophomore start, Davis pitched in a combined three goals and two assists in a narrow 2-1 defeat of Marist and 4-1 handling of George Washington.

F Kaylee Noble, Texas A&M - Lafayette had no answers for Noble, whose hat trick and one assist contributed four of seven goals.
