The University of Wyoming women’s soccer team scored four goals in 14 minutes against Air Force to overcome a 2-1 second-half deficit and earn a 5-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Louis S. Madrid Sport Complex. The Cowgirls fought through winter-like conditions to maintain their perfect 5-0-0 record on their home pitch and advance to 5-1-0 in the Mountain West Conference. Freshman forward Kaitlyn Lomsnes scored Wyoming’s first and last goals of the game and had an assist to sophomore midfielder Laurel Ramer, as the Cowgirls’ five scores were a season high.

“The girls came out a little flat from Friday’s tough game,” UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. “I give Air Force credit. They came out with two goals and made us play from behind. I thought early in the game we didn’t adapt to the weather conditions and it worked against us, but we came out in the second half and played to the conditions. We also became more aggressive in the attack and finished our chances.”

Air Force’s goals came off put backs from headers that hit the post in the 30^th and 61^st minutes of the game.  Wyoming responded five minutes after the Falcon’s first goal with a header from Ramer to find Lomsnes at the top of the box for a drive down the middle as she beat the keeper. The Cowgirls notched another goal during the 73^rd minute when Lomsnes found freshman midfielder Alisha Bass who got a cross from the right corner to find Ramer with a header for the score.  UW’s third goal came when freshman forward Candace Scriberras had a cross from the right corner to find Bass at the top of the box. Wyoming’s senior defender Alison Clarke took a free kick just outside of the Falcon’s box to find senior defender Kasey Curtis for a netted header. The Cowgirls iced the game in the 87^th minute when Lomsnes received a pass from Bass for a shot from 20 yards out.

Wyoming out shot Air Force 17-11, including 9-5 in shots on goal and had a 3-0 advantages in corner kicks. Lomsnes led the offense with four shots, directing three on goal, while notching two goals and an assist. Bass followed Lomsnes with four shots, two on goal, to earn a goal and two assists. UW senior goalkeeper Alex Boehm made three saves and advanced her record to 4-4-0 this season.

The Cowgirls return to the road on Friday at Fresno State at 7 p.m. MT and Sunday at San Jose State at 1 p.m.
