Yannick Smith Gets CAA and National Player Of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, VA-- ODU's junior forward Yannick Smith (Hillsborough, NJ.) was named to the National Team of the Week by TopDrawer Soccer and CAA Co-Player of the Week for his hat trick with three goals against Houston Baptist. It was ODU's first hat trick since 2008 when Steffen Rabbendid it against Bryant.
Smith scored the three goals on just four shots and shares the league honors with Taylor Morgan of George Mason who scored three goals and three assists in games against Howard and American.
OTHER CAA NOTES:TWO CAA TEAMS RANKED IN TOP 20: A pair of CAA teams are nationally ranked this week. In the TopDrawerSoccer Top 48 poll, William & Mary is ranked #18 and Old Dominion is ranked #20.
CAA DOMINATES REGIONAL RANKINGS: Six CAA teams were among the top 10 in the South Atlantic regional rankings released by the NSCAA on Sept. 5. William & Mary was ranked #3 in the region, while VCU was #4, Northeastern was #6, Old Dominion was #7, George Mason was #8 and Delaware was #9.
IMPRESSIVE FIELD: Old Dominion and William & Mary will participate in the 26th ODU Stihl Soccer Classic this weekend. All four teams in the tournament made the NCAA Tournament field in 2010 as the Monarchs and Tribe are joined by Monmouth and East Tennessee State. Last week, ODU, W&M and Monmouth were all in the nation's top 25.
