Yannick Smith Named All-American

NORFOLK, VA-- The NSCAA and College Soccer News have both selected ODU's junior forward Yannick Smith (Hillsborough, NJ.)to their third team All-American squads today. Smith becomes the ninth Monarch under head coach Alan Dawsonto earn All-American honors.

The MAC Hermann Trophy semi-finalist led the CAA and ranked among the nation's top scorers. Smith scored 16 goals which ranked him ninth nationally and 34 total points which placed him 12th nationally.

The first team All-CAA forward led the CAA in points with 34, points per game at 2.0, goals with 16 and goals per game at 0.94.

Smith had three game winning goals and scored 10 of his 16 goals in 11 CAA regular season matches. He scored three goals in matches against UNCW and Houston Baptist, and two goals against Elon.

During the season Smith was named CAA Player of the Week on Sept. 5th and Oct. 10th. He was named National Player of the Week on Sept. 5 and Oct. 10 by TopDrawer Soccer, and Sept. 19 and Oct. 10 by CollegeSoccer News.

The ODU Soccer Monarchs finished second in the CAA regular season and reached the league championship match, then for the eighth time in 10 years advanced to the second round of the NCAA College Cup. The Soccer Monarchs were 12-6-1 overall.
