Zamora Scores 2 More; 'Runners Sweep In Vega

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--Julian Zamora  (R-Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Golden Valley HS) scored a pair of goals in a four-minute span in the first half as Bakersfield (3-0) defeated IPFW in the second match of the Johann Memorial Classic at UNLV.

Zamora scored at 32:06 and again at 36:12 to raise season to total four after earning two goals on Friday night against Howard. Lucas Dall'Orso (Sr., Orange County, Calif., JSerra Catholic HS) got the ‘Runners on the board first with a penalty kick in the fifth minute.

CSUB goalie Nicolas Clever (So., Cologne, Germany, Gesamtschule Kuerten) recorded his third shutout of the season. The Roadrunners have not allowed a goal in the three victories in 2014. The Roadrunners outshot the Mastodons 16-3 at halftime and 26-7 for the match.

Zamora was named Outstanding Offensive Player of the tournament. Clever, Simon Doherty (Jr., West Lothian, Scotland, FDU), and David Velasquez (R-Sr., Los Angeles, Calif., Locke HS) joined Zamora on the All-Tournament team.

Bakersfield travels to UC Riverside Thursday night at 7 p.m.
