Ziegler keys 3-2 victory at KWC
OWENSBORO, Ky. - Jacoby Ziegler did her thing at Kentucky Wesleyan by scoring two goals and assisting on another to spark the Lady Jackets to a 3-2 Great Midwest Athletic Conference win.
Cedarville, 5-1 overall and 2-0 G-MAC, never trailed in the match after Ziegler set up freshman Grace Miorelli for her third tally of the season on a nice give-and-go in the 25th minute.
Ziegler made it 2-0 in the 40th when she launched a left-footed bomb near the left sideline from 35 yards out.
After the Cougars got on the board early the second period, the sophomore forward went to work again in the 68th minute. She shook off three KWC defenders in the box and ripped a high shot for her seventh goal of the year.
Kentucky Wesleyan scored again in the 84th, but ran out of time.
The stats were close with CU having the edge in shots on shot overall, 15-14, and on goal, 12-9. Hanna Harris made seven saves.
The Jackets head to NCAA Division I Youngstown State on Tuesday with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
