The growth of high school soccer can be reinforced through the growing number of regional and national inseason events bringing together top-flight programs. Below is a list of tournaments that have been important in assessing teams for the FAB 50 and Prep Top 10 rankings. This list will be updated as the school year progresses.

FALL SEASON

The Tradition Classic
When: Aug. 30-31, 2019
Where: Reavis Stadium on the campus of DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
Website: n/a
Top Teams: Fremd (Ill.), Hinsdale Central (Ill.), North Central (Ind.), Peoria Notre Dame (Ill.). 
Whate else: The showcase contest on Aug. 30 pits Peoria Notre Dame against Fremd in a meeting of FAB 50 Top 25 teams. This second-year event is a four-team mixer bringing together four traditionally strong programs. 
 
Thoroughbred Cup
When: Sept. 6-8, 2019
Where: Thompson-Berry Park and Soccer Complex in Owensboro, Ky.
Top Teams: Eureka (Mo.), Ladue Horton Watkins (Mo.), University School (Ohio). 
Whate else: The Thoroughbred Cup has both boys and girls divisions. The boys division has 10 teams this year, which is the second year for the event. The competition is part of the High School Cup series, where the highest-ranked FAB 50 team at the end of the school year is declared the High School Cup champion.
 
Great Midwest Classic
When: Sept. 13-14, 2019
Where: North Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind.

Top Teams: De La Salle Collegiate (Mich.), North Central (Ind.)
Whate else: This was the original blockbuster event in the fall nearly 20 years ago and would rotate venues on an annual basis. Back in the 2000s, this eight-team event that routinely drew nationally ranked programs, including a California power before it moved to the winter high school season. The GMC has remained on the scene for nearly 20 years, but its eight-team field mostly is comprised of teams on the fringe of state or regional rankings. The first round of matches this year will be held at Grand Park, pitting Highland Park (Ill.), vs. Lawrence North (Ind.), Greenfield Central (Ind.) vs. McCutcheon (Ind.), North Central (Ind.) vs. Downers Grove South (Ill.) and [Oak River Forest Park il-w] vs. De La Salle Collegiate (Mich.). All teams will play twice Saturday at North Central High School. 
 
Mainline High School Jamboree
When: Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019
Where: U.S. Training Center in Downingtown, Pa.

Top Teams: Seton Hall Prep (N.J.)
Whate else: The Mainline High School Jamboree fills a need in the Mid-Atlantic for a certainly located event that pulls teams from Maryland to New York. 

Delbarton Soccer Invitational
When: Sept. 21-22, 2019
Where: Delbarton School in Morristown, N.J.

Top Teams: Delbarton School (N.J.), Chaminade (N.Y.). 
What else: This four-team mixer also includes [St. Peter's Prep nj-m] (N.J.) and Regis (N.Y.). The New Jersey teams will take on the New York teams during the two-day event.

Northeast Boys Soccer Jamboree
When: Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019
Where: Loomis Chaffee School, Windsor, Conn.

Top Teams: Berkshire School (Mass.), Loomis Chaffee (Conn.), Milton Academy (Mass.), Northfield Mount Hermon (Mass.), South Kent School (Conn.), Taft School (Conn.), Worcester Academy (Mass.). 
What else:This one-day event has become a must-see for college recruiters. Most of the Prep Top 10 teams compete at this event, which features dozens of major college-bound soccer players. This year, 28 teams will participate. This year's schedule is: Choate vs. Hopkins, 8:45 a.m.; Hotchkiss vs. BB&N, 9:15 a.m.; Taft vs. Avon Old Farms, 10 a.m.; Worcester vs. Northfield Mount Hermon, 10:45 a.m.; Berkshire vs. Milton, 11:30 a.m.; St. Mark's vs. Millbrook, noon; St. Paul's vs. Nobles, 12:15 p.m.; Loomis Chaffee vs. South Kent, 1 p.m.; Suffield Academy vs. Holderness, 1:45 p.m.; Phillips Exeter vs. Lawrence Academy, 2:15 p.m.; Northwood School vs. Williston, 2:45 p.m.; Kimball Union vs. Pomfret, 3:15 p.m.; Rivers School vs. Tabor Academy, 3:45 p.m.; Trinity Pawling vs. Cushing Academy, 3:45 p.m.

Go 4 the Goal Fall Classic
When: Oct. 3-5, 2019
Where: Burlington Regional Rec Plex in Burlington, Iowa

Top Teams: Naperville North (Ill.), Morton (Ill.), Milwaukee Marquette (Wis.), Bishop Miege (Kan.), Washburn Rural (Kan.), [Gateway Legacy Christian il-m] (Ill.), Mount Carmel (Ill.), St. Thomas Aquinas (Kan.).
What else: The Go 4 the Goal Fall Classic is the rebranded event formerly known as the Gateway City Soccer Classic. For more than a decade, this has been the go-to event for teams from coast to coast to test themselves against other regional and nationally ranked programs. Naperville North (Ill.) won the top flight at this event last year en route to a FAB 50 No. 2 national ranking. Although a majority of teams are from the Midwest states, the event has had representatives from 21 states during its history. In total, 135 different schools have played in the event. Christian Brothers College (Mo.) leads the way with four top division titles.
